Tummy Tuck

Are there stubborn areas of fat around your midsection that make you feel uncomfortable in your clothes? Are you a mother who, after multiple pregnancies, has stretch marks, loose skin and scars? Maybe you lost a significant amount of weight and now have excess skin that is stretched out?

If you are frustrated by a bulging, saggy or scarred waistline that doesn’t seem to respond to diet and exercise the board certified plastic surgeon at Core Dermatology can help.

What is a Tummy Tuck?

Abdominoplasty, or “tummy tuck” is a major surgical procedure that corrects imperfections due to genetics, medical conditions and lifestyle. Abdominoplasty entails removing fat and excess skin from the middle to lower abdomen as well as tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall. The fascia, or inner girdle of connective tissue that extends from the ribs to the pubic bone is tightened, and the skin and fat between the belly button and the pelvic area is removed.

What else should I know?

The ideal tummy tuck candidate has an active lifestyle and is at a reasonable and healthy weight. Abdominoplasty is also used in addition to liposuction to remove fat deposits from the hips to give patients a better body contour.*

If it is determined by your doctor at the Core Dermatology that you are a candidate for abdominoplasty, there are a ways in which you will need to prepare:

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Abstain from nicotine products
  • Avoid secondhand smoke for at least 6 weeks before and after surgery
  • Refrain from taking aspirin three weeks before and after surgery

All surgical procedures require an initial consultation. For more information or to schedule your appointment please call Core Dermatology at 888-970-7546.
